We have just been told on tuesday that this weekend is pictures. HOW ABOUT A LITTLE NOTICE! Our family is going to mount washington this weekend. This trip has been scheduled for a month. Now my 3 kids can't get a team picture. THAT SUCKS!

This late in the season , we had to schedule the photographer while he was available. He will be back over the next few weeks , maybe something can be worked out

Would have been nice to have notification of the tournament this past Sat? is this the couches responsibility or is it for the parents to find out themselves?

the tounament put on by Lower Island Soccer Assocation (LISA) for mini teams (U7 - U10), hosted by Sooke Soccer. There are lots of tournaments open to all teams usually at the end of the season, but there are some over Christmas break. Check out LISA's website or individual club website for more information.

Sooke Mens Over 40's Team is still alive with 21 players registered this year. We're gettin old, but were still alive.

Goal Keep Clinic - Great Idea, however, I don't understand why you would book it for a Saturday. All youths have games on Saturdays. Not good planning most teams need their goalies for the games.

This clinic is actually meant for coaches from the entire district rather than goalkeepers. Because it didn't fill up we invited players to participate. It is scheduled for the weekend because a one day course during the week would be next to impossible to fill.

So, higher fees for the second year in a row. What's up with the huge increase, especially for those that typically register early?
And now no volunteer cheques? We have people that make a choice to have their cheques cashed instead of supporting their kids soccer club, now they don't have to do both with no consequence.... Didn't the club make 3000$ from these cashed cheques. That's 1/3 of our $8000 dollar turf fund. Shouldn't the $3000 absolved the need to increase fees?

Even after the increase our fees are the second lowest ( after Cowichan ) in the Lower Island District. The fees we charge are averaging $50 lower than any other club in the district.
The fee increase reflects the cost of daily soccer operation: balls , nets , referees, new equipment , jerseys field upkeep ecc.
The volunteer deposit was initially set up to 'force' people to volunteer and was never intended to generate revenue. To charge someone for not volunteering is a contradiction t…

Robin is partially correct. Yes CVSA is the lowest across the board but comparing the other 9 clubs only Lakehill has not touched their fees in the last 4 years in part because they had a hefty increase back then as they started to plan for their Turf field. GHSA raised their fees last year to match CBs. Every other club appears to have raised their fees (except Lakehill who have the lowest fees at the young age for early rate but among the highest at full field for late registration). Did anyone notice the posting by District of Sooke in the Sooke News requesting any groups looking for project funding to promote sports etc., to make a proposal to the Community Grant Review committee. I wonder if this might help our efforts to get a turf???

Wow great! PLEASE ensure Sooke SC has a nice polished proposal ready to drop on the councils tabled! Our fields are dreadful and almost as bad as Gorges ;)
